Psalm 107:29-31,”He made the storm calm, and the sea waves were still. They were glad because the waters were quiet, so He brought them to their desired harbor.”
As we look around, watch the news or just talk with others, we can see and hear how turbulent the world has become. The craziness, heartache and despair seems to be insurmountable. Every time we turn around it is something else. I write this not with the intent to create more despair in your heart, but in hopes of encouraging you through scripture.
Life has been turbulent and disruptive ever since Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden and sin allowed to enter this world. A sin that is driven from the lustful desires of the flesh while being influenced by satan and his demons. This sin can be disruptive to Christians and if not overcome by the Blood of Jesus Christ and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11), can influence people, communities and even countries. As believers, we are instructed to not be surprised by trials in our lives and not only our lives, but the lives of those around us. John 16:33 tells us in this life we will have tribulations. If it is stated in the Bible, then why do we doubt or fear when something bad occurs or comes against us? People, Christians tend to be shocked or dismayed when bad things happen or they or a loved one is affected by these forementioned tribulations. We should not be disheartened or shocked when something negative arises, but instead we should be strengthened and encouraged as faith filled believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that He has overcome the world and in Him we too are overcomers. To expand on John 16:33 it states, “I have told you these things that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” Praise God, in Jesus we are overcomers and able to stand against the evil we see or negative impacts of situations that directly affect us, our family, employment, community or country. We are over comers!
What I want to bring light to today is where we should keep our focus and why. During turbulent times there may be a tendency to focus on the problem and not the solution. Psalm 121:1-2 states, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” As stated in Joshua 1:8,”Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Our response, our daily focus, should be upon the Lord and within His Word. When we insistently live according to God’s instruction, our spirit and faith are strengthened, and in the name of Jesus Christ we are enabled to live as overcomers in a state of wholeness, prosperity and success. Living in a state of obedience as instructed in God’s truth, our hearts, our souls and our lives begin to resemble Jesus and we are able to walk in His peace exemplifying unconditional love while walking in His blessings and favor (James 1:25).
Praise God, that He loves us enough to send His only begotten Son to die on the cross that we may have the opportunity to live a life filled with His favor and blessings. A life that brings us the desires of our hearts that I believe in Christ is a life filled with peace, joy and wholeness. Wholeness in our bodies, families, finances and every area of our existence. This wholeness ties directly back to the verse for this blog, He calms the waves and brings us to our desired harbor. God loves us so much He knows the number of hairs on our head. He created us before we were formed in our mother’s womb and knows us inside and out. He knows what will make us happy, what will calm our souls and how we should live to be victorious in our daily walk. In other words, He knows our desired harbors better than we do.
Today I want to encourage you to draw closer to the Lord in prayer, the study of His word and if possible your attendance, in person or online, in a Bible believing church that you may lift up your eyes, study His word day and night and walk in the victory He has for you. God knows our desired harbor, the harbor that gives each one of us fulfillment that we may be His ambassadors on this earth. We just need to quit doing it our way and seek His!
Be blessed and may your day be filled with Peace and your heart with unconditional love!
Shalom!!
