Receptive
Good morning strong, courageous, blessed, highly favored, healed, freed from addiction, whole, sound, faith filled and hope renewed believers in the Only Truth, Jesus Christ!
Matthew 13:14-15
“This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. 15 For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’”
Within the 13th chapter of Matthew Jesus explains to the disciples why He uses parables when He teaches. The verse above is repeated within Matthew but is originally from Isaiah 6:9-10. Jesus restates these lines from Isaiah as clarification to the disciples in the explanation of the parable of the farmer that plants seed and the seed falls on shallow soil, within thorns and fertile soil. Jesus also goes on to elaborate that when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are given the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 13:11). As I read that chapter this morning this particular verse resonated on my heart because it is so true in today’s climate. We get our lives so jumbled and jam packed with stuff that our hearts are not receptive, our spirits are not sensitive too and our souls cannot and in some cases will not listen or be obedient to the calling of God upon our lives. We go to church and hear the Word of God but do we truly understand how it applies to our lives? Better yet do we apply it to our lives? We see testimonies or read miracles in the Bible but do we believe they still occur or through our righteousness and in the name of Jesus believe we have the authority to change our circumstance? When we hear the Word of God or see the difference Jesus makes in our lives, do we respond with gladness and joy? When we read God’s Word is our heart, soul and spirit receptive enough to see, hear and comprehend the deeper meaning God has imbedded in His Truth? The meaning that takes worry, addiction, stress, financial shortfalls, ailments, heartache and the other things of this world and leaves them on the cross and through Jesus’ resurrection allows us to walk in His righteousness and victory. I encourage you to reread the verse above and when you get to the last 11 words, think about them. When ears do not hear, eyes do not see, and hearts do not comprehend, we cannot turn to Jesus and let Him heal us. The word heal means to make healthy, whole or sound. The word heal is not limited to our health, but it can mean to heal a relationship, to make whole our spirit or to make sound (solid, firm, stable) our faith that we may walk in the authority that Jesus died on the cross for us to have. Through fellowship and our relationship with Jesus, God’s Word becomes alive and the life sustaining meaning is revealed to those that seek it. Jesus’ desire is to heal every part of our lives, but to do that our hearts must be renewed and our minds transformed to the living Word of God.
Dear Lord, we pray that our hearts, souls and spirits are made new and fresh and that God’s Word is clearly revealed to us. Revealed personally to each one of us that our desire is to redirect our lives to line up with Your will. That our hearts are renewed in the Spirit and our minds are transformed to think, respond, act and react in the Truth of Your living Word. We love, honor and praise You. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
Shalom!!
